Pilgrim Speedster

The models produced are the classic 2+2, which is built on a shortened VW Beetle floorpan, and a 4 seater, which fits directly onto the Beetle floorpan without any need for cutting or welding.  pilgrim also offer the California model, which is a 2+2 race looking version with flared arches.

The 4 seater is aimed at the larger family, as it will take four adults, which is very rare in the replica market. Stretching the body by 275mm has not ruined the shape of the body or effected the rigidity. It is also an easier build because the floorpan remains full length and so avoids and VRT.

Once the floorpan and running gear modification and reconditioning is completed you are ready for the sub chassis. Pilgrim has a high regard for the safety of their customers. With this in mind the Speedster has been designed with not only  the VW original chassis but has also added a substantial sub chassis to help improve safety.  Not only does this sub chassis  dramatically increase safety but it also adds to the rigidity, making driving the Speedster a very enjoyable pastime.

Unlike most replicas, the Speedster once built, should give you a profit.  The originals are few and far between and quite expensive.

Much like the original the Pilgrim Speedster uses VW suspension components and has a rear mounted air-cooled engine.  You have a choice of engines including the full range of VW Beetle engines and also the Porsche 6 Cylinder engine.  Due to the car's weight and type of engine you can enjoy very good fuel consumption and performance.

The amateur builder with no requirements for special tools and with additional cutting/welding assistance can assemble the Speedster in approx 300 hours.
