Pilgrim Sumo
The Sumo offers styling from the care free 60's. It's uncompromising lines speak of power in irresistible motion. Modern Ford mechanics coupled with the latest chassis fabrication techniques makes it drive as well as it's speedy character demands.
If you are fed up with the predictable looks and anonymity of your standard car, the Sumo could be the car for you. It will certainly bring back the sparkle to your driving and make you stand out in the crowd.
Out on the road it is easy to see why the Sumo is so popular. Indeed, it is difficult to go anywhere without drawing admiring glances and the envious gaze of other road users and pedestrians. The rumbling exhaust, comfortable driving position and that feeling of being at one with the car, invites the open roads. The power to weight ratio in such a light car is enormous, allowing terrific acceleration. The Sumo's well balanced and positive handling provides the driver with a feeling of complete control. Driving a Sumo brings back the joy of driving.
The cockpit of the Sumo is much larger than one would expect in such a car, probably larger than any similar car. The seats are very comfortable and are available in either leather or vinyl.
Pilgrim has a high regard for the safety of their customers, this is why the Sumo chassis is made from such strong material, and plenty of it. The massive steel transmission tunnel backbone and the panelled steel bulkheads are braced to the main chassis structure. The chassis stiffness has been tested and was found to be satisfactory both longitudinally and torsionally.
The Donor car for the Sumo is the Ford Sierra, Granada or Scorpio from which you take the running gear and steering system, you also need a heater and windscreen wiper motor from a Mini.
The amateur builder with no requirements for special tools or additional welding can assemble the Sumo in approx 450 hours.
